It's Parade Time Again!

Time for scouts, family, friends, and leaders to have fun participating in the City of Gaithersburg, MD  72nd Annual  Labor Day Parade.

Won't you please sign up now so we can confirm with the Parade Committee?

This is a great event – all ages can participate.  – Scouts, parents, friends, siblings and leaders.

Our troop has participated in the parade for many years now and we were awarded the Judy Hockey Spirit award a couple of years ago for our continuous support of the parade.

This is a Service Project - School service hours can be obtained for participating in the parade.  Forms will be available at the parade’s end.

Dorthy Winder of the Parade Committee for the City of Gaithersburg, MD is calling on Troop 1097 to participate again in the 2010 Labor Day Parade.  She is requesting volunteer’s from our Troop for the following positions:

q      10 people to Marshal the Parade – Older scouts and adults will help keep the participants of the parade moving.

q      Up to 18 to carry a helium-filled hot air balloon.  – This year all balloons are medium sized and float.

q      1 or 2 early morning set up people to assist with the parade committee in setting out parade signs along the parade route.  This person or persons will meet with a member of the city’s parade committee (usually at the Gaithersburg Police Station parking lot) and ride with them in a van to set up the road signs for the parade.  Time required 1 to 1½ hours.

We need one Parent to help pickup food for lunch and possibly meet troop members at parade’s end with cold drinks.

Also, one Scout will be designated to be Parade Patrol Leader – This may be a good opportunity to sign off a scout requirement - See Mr. Sickman.
